About Me

Hi there! I specialize in working with adults who have had difficult relationship experiences throughout their lives.  You may have had a difficult childhood. You and your partner may feel disconnected. You may have a difficult time trusting yourself or others. You may still carry difficult experiences from your past.

My passions include working with both couples and individuals who are struggling to navigate issues such as trauma, anxiety, and relationship distress. I particularly enjoy working with premarital couples, as well. While I often market my services to couples and adults issues, I also enjoy working with anxious or struggling teenagers from time to time.

I often find that our closest relationships greatly impact how we see the world. This can be a secure and healthy view of ourselves and others around us; or we can become filled with anxiety and pain.

Emma Poole, LMFT

My Background

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist here in the state of Tennessee. I earned my Masters of Science in Marital and Family Therapy from Lee University in 2019. Since then, I have completed advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy which is the gold standard for couples therapy. I have also become trained in a specific trauma therapy known as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (or, "EMDR"). Over the years, I have worked with a multitude of issues including, but not limited to, infidelity, marital distress; complex trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, crisis prevention and suicidal ideation.

On a personal note, I have strong roots here in East Tennessee, having been born and raised in Blount County. As a Tennessee native, naturally, I bleed orange for the Vols. My family includes myself, my husband, our daughter, and our two rescue dogs. We love to play games, kayak, and drive through the mountains.

A relational approach

It’s essential for me that my clients get the best care. Because of this, I offer evidence-based therapies such as Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy and Somatic and Attachment Focused Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (SAFE EMDR). My approach can be somewhat eclectic between modalities to fit your specific needs.
